Greetings!
Welcome to the July issue of The Cole
Center for Healing's monthly newsletter. This newsletter will keep
you up-to-date on the latest therapies we offer, new Lecture dates,
and anything new that is happening at The Cole Center for Healing.
This month's newsletter features information regarding Weight
Loss. Dr. Marty Hinz and his staff at NeuroResearch, Inc. have
developed safe and effective formulas that deliver the balance of
amino acids needed to build neurotransmitters. These supplemental
neurotransmitters naturally suppress appetite and facilitate normal
metabolism, leading to successful weight loss.

The End of Obesity? |

Neurotransmitters are chemicals
produced from certain amino acids. They are found in neurons
(brain cells) and are used to transmit information from one
nerve cell to another. Simply put, an electrical impulse
travels down the axon of the neuron. When the impulse reaches
the terminal end of the neuron, the neuron releases
neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters cross the space
between the neurons called the synapse, and bind with
receptors on the connecting neuron. Neurotransmitters that do
not bind with the receptors are reabsorbed by the original
neuron, or inactivated. This movement of neurotransmitters
between neurons is one of the mechanisms controlling brain
activity.
Balancing
Neurotransmitters
There are more than 180 known
neurotransmitters. All of the neurotransmitters must be
present in sufficient amounts for the brain to be chemically
balanced. Too much or too little of any of these chemicals
will eventually show itself as a physical or emotional
symptom. Unfortunately, it takes very little to disrupt the
balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. Some people are
born with a chemical imbalance. For others, the physical,
mental and emotional stress of daily living diminishes their
level of neurotransmitters. And because the majority of our
diet consists of processed foods and food grown in nutrient
depleted soil, many patients do not have the raw materials to
build the neurotransmitters they need. We may be over-eating,
but we are under-nourished.
Prescription Drugs To make
matters worse, prescription drugs that are used to address
neurotransmitter deficiencies are depleting the
neurotransmitters in the brain. For example, depression may be
caused by an imbalance of Seratonin. Medications classified as
Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) are prescribed
to address the symptom of depression. SSRI's prevent Seratonin
from being reabsorbed by the sending nerve cell, keeping it
available for the receiving nerve cell. If the Seratonin is
not received or reabsorbed by either cell, the body will
inactivate it, over time depleting the level of Seratonin in
the body. Long-term use of these drugs will cause greater
imbalance, and a total system crash.
A Successful Neurotransmitter Weight
Loss Program
A successful neurotransmitter weight loss program is based
on four facets. The patient must be motivated, and commit to
following the program. Secondly, it is important to work
closely with your physician to monitor your progress. A
physician will evaluate you to determine the level of
Neurotransmitter Therapy you need. A patient meets with the
physician weekly during the Adjustment Period, until the
neurotransmitter levels stabilize. Typically, this is a one to
four week period. After that, the patient moves into the
Weight Loss Period, and office visits are reduced to every
other week. After the patient reaches goal weight, the next
phase is the Maintenance Period. Office visits are scheduled
every two to three months. The third facet of the
program involves monitoring your caloric intake. Each patient
receives a calorie prescription, specifying how much food to
eat. It's up to the individual to determine what foods to eat
to meet the calorie prescription. Dr. Cole recommends the Live
Right for Your Type diet for all of his patients, and The Eat
Sheet, available in our office, gives directions on the best
way to eat for maximum absorption and minimal gastrointestinal
distress. However, every patient must keep an accurate calorie
count, using a journal and an accurate scale. This is
critical.
The final component of success is the most simple. The
patient must take the supplements as prescribed.
Other Holistic Therapies
There are other holistic therapies that can be used to
support a patient on a weight loss program. Many people
dealing with obesity and eating disorders can attribute some
of their weight problems to emotional issues. Neural Therapy
Evaluation can be used to help identify and remove energetic
and emotional blockages. Additional modalities that treat
emotional and energetic blocks are:
· Bach Remedies- a homeopathic-like approach that uses
medication in the form of drops · Subliminal CD's- a
compact disc with positive affirmations supporting weight loss
and healthy choices. These CD's can be played constantly and
the effects are cumulative. · Emotional Acupressure - an
easily learned system of removing emotional blockages ·
CHRIS Technique- a talk therapy that helps one become
emotionally intact and aware. This can be a long-term
process. Detox also supports successful long-term
weight loss. Fat cells serve a very important function in the
body. When the body cannot process all of the toxins in the
system, it wraps the toxins in fat cells and stores them until
the body is able to remove them. Fat is the body's way of
trying to save itself from toxicity. As the body starts to
lose fat, those stored toxins are reintroduced into the
system, which can make a patient feel sick. Standard Process
has one of the best systems for detox in conjunction with a
weight loss program, focusing on liver/gallbladder support, a
good nutritional product, and dietary fiber. Gallbladder
problems are one of the most common complications of being
overweight. If not on the Standard Process program, every
weight loss patient needs to be on a supplement to try to
prevent gallbladder complications. A multi-vitamin/mineral
supplement is also required.
Ozone Steam Detox is a therapy that facilitates weight
loss and cardiovascular function. It also helps tone the skin.
Chelation is excellent for removing heavy metals from the
body. Exercise is important for conditioning and overall
health. However, the program is designed so that you will lose
weight whether you exercise or not.
Good News
Here's more good news. The
Neurotransmitter Program is very safe. There are no known
interactions with any drug or supplement. People taking the
Neurotransmitter supplements had the exact same side effects
as people taking a placebo. The main side effects were mild
dizziness and nausea, and these symptoms were resolved by
adjusting the size of the dose. In addition, by cutting back
on food bills, the program can actually save you money!
